Isle of Wight Case Study
ChildrenFirst was appointed in December 2005 to offer consultancy support to the Isle of Wight Council’s Children’s Services Directorate, where we provided an interim Director of Children’s Services.
While we worked to support safeguarding and disabled children’s services, our main focus was on educational attainment. Through the successful delivery of this contract, ChildrenFirst have built strong relationships as well as a reputation for decisive and effective support and challenge with the council, the school improvement service and, crucially, with head teachers and leadership teams. Our work there in recent months has clearly had a marked impact on GCSE results, and on the prioritisation of schools for external support.
