North East Lincolnshire Case Study

 

We are in the third year of a three-year strategic intervention partnership with North East Lincolnshire to deliver an effective Children’s Trust.
 
We have helped the Council through:
 
• supplying interim management and additional capacity in key areas of Council services

• effective management and improved front-line services in children’s social care

• support for the writing of a highly commended Children & Young Persons’ plan

• support for the development of local clusters of schools as a focus for multi-agency service delivery

• the introduction of a new strategy for supporting children at risk of exclusion, and other vulnerable children

• recruitment of the new substantive management team for the Directorate for Children's Services, including a post jointly funded by the PCT and supporting this new team to build the a sustainable and effective Directorate

The milestone outcome of our work is that North East Lincolnshire was rated 'the most improved Council in England' in it's 2007 APA assessment. Social Care Services now has some of the best performance in the country. Secondary school performance has improved across the board, including schools being removed from categories of concern.
